How to Use
A full guide to Priority V.
Overview

Priority V automatically builds your daily schedule around your sleep, fixed commitments, and free time goals. Add tasks with deadlines and priorities β€” the app figures out when to do them. You never drag blocks around manually.

Sign in with Google or your username + PIN to sync your data across all your devices.

The three views

Day β€” your main timeline. A horizontal scrollable view of today's schedule. Scroll to zoom in or out, click and drag to pan left/right, or use the arrow buttons to jump between days. Tap any segment to see its details.

Week β€” all 7 days stacked. Good for spotting overloaded days at a glance. Tap a day row to open it in Day view.

Month β€” a calendar grid of the current month. Tap any date to jump to it in Day view.

Adding tasks

Go to Manage β†’ Add new segment β†’ Task. Each field:

  • Name β€” what the task is
  • Color β€” visual label on the timeline
  • Duration β€” total minutes needed to complete it
  • Priority β€” 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest). Higher priority tasks are always scheduled before lower ones each day
  • Start date β€” earliest day the task can appear on your schedule
  • Due date & time β€” hard deadline. When two tasks have equal priority, the one due sooner is scheduled first
  • Done minutes β€” pre-fill if you've already made progress
  • Notes β€” any extra context, visible in the detail panel
Time blockers

Blockers reserve fixed time slots that tasks can never be scheduled into. Use them for anything that doesn't move: meals, gym, commutes, meetings, deep work blocks, or family time. The scheduler will never place a task during a blocked time.

How to create a blocker:

  1. Go to Manage tab
  2. Tap "Add new segment"
  3. Select "Time Blocker"
  4. Enter the blocker name (e.g., "Gym", "Team Meeting", "Lunch")
  5. Set the start time and duration (how long it lasts)
  6. Choose a color to make it visually distinct on your timeline

Recurrence options:

  • None β€” one-time blocker (useful for appointments, interviews, trips)
  • Daily β€” happens every day (e.g., morning exercise, dinner time)
  • Weekly β€” happens on specific days of the week (e.g., "Monday, Wednesday, Friday" for gym sessions)
  • Custom β€” pick exact days (e.g., "Tue & Thu" for recurring meetings)

Active date range: Set when the blocker starts and stops being active. Useful for seasonal activities or temporary commitments.

  • Start date β€” when does this blocker begin?
  • End date β€” when should it automatically stop? (Leave blank for ongoing)

Examples of good blockers:

  • πŸƒ Gym: Mon/Wed/Fri 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM
  • 🍽️ Lunch: Daily 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
  • πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’Ό Team standup: Mon-Fri 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM
  • πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ Family dinner: Daily 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • πŸš— Commute: Daily 7:30 AM – 8:15 AM
  • πŸ’€ Wind-down: Daily 10:00 PM – 11:00 PM (blocks tasks from this time)

Tips:

  • Blockers take priority β€” tasks will route around them, so be realistic about what time is truly unavailable
  • You can also create blockers by dragging on the timeline in Day view (click and drag to block time)
  • Edit any blocker later by tapping it and selecting "Edit"
  • Remove a blocker by tapping it and selecting "Remove"
Reminders

Reminders are one-time alerts at a specific date and time. Go to Manage β†’ Add new segment β†’ Reminder. They appear on the timeline and can trigger a notification if you allow it in Appearance settings.

How scheduling works

Every day is built in this order:

  1. Sleep is blocked out first based on your sleep hours and wake time
  2. Wake-up buffer and pre-bedtime buffer are added β€” relaxed time at each end of the day that tasks won't touch
  3. Time blockers (meetings, gym, meals, etc.) fill their reserved slots
  4. Tasks are scheduled by priority (5 is highest) and due date (earlier first). The system automatically spreads out multiple tasks with the same priority and due date so you alternate between them instead of working on one for hours
  5. Each work session is capped based on how many same-priority tasks exist β€” if 4 priority-5 tasks are due the same day, each gets ~30-min sessions before rotating to the next task
  6. After the max work threshold (default 2 hours), a break is inserted and the next task begins
  7. Whatever time remains after all tasks becomes free time

Safety features: Tasks never schedule in the past, never past their due date (or before due time on the due date), and tasks stop being scheduled once your minimum free time floor is reached for that day.

Managing tasks on the timeline

Tap any task or blocker segment to open its detail panel:

  • Progress bar β€” shows minutes done vs. total duration
  • Notes β€” edit inline, saved automatically
  • Complete Session β€” marks this session's scheduled minutes as done and moves on
  • Complete All β€” marks the entire task finished regardless of remaining time
  • Push β€” skips the task for today; it reschedules to the next available day
  • Extend β€” adds more time to the task's total duration
  • Edit β€” opens the full edit form to change any field
  • Remove β€” permanently deletes the task or blocker
Scheduling settings
  • Sleep hours per day β€” how long you sleep each night, by weekday (e.g., 8 hours). Set this based on how much sleep you need.
  • Wake-up time β€” what time you wake up each morning, by weekday. Set this to your target wake time, and the system automatically calculates your bedtime. Example: If you want to wake at 7:00 AM and sleep 8 hours, bedtime will be calculated as 11:00 PM.
  • Min free time β€” minimum unscheduled hours to keep open each day (e.g., 2 hours). Tasks will not be scheduled past this floor, protecting your downtime.
  • Wake-up buffer β€” relaxed minutes right after waking before any tasks can be scheduled (default 30 min). Use this for a morning routine.
  • Pre-bedtime buffer β€” wind-down minutes before bed when no tasks are scheduled (default 30 min). Use this for evening relaxation.
  • Max work hours β€” longest continuous work session before a break is automatically inserted (default 2 hrs). When multiple same-priority tasks exist, the actual session cap is shorter so tasks spread evenly throughout the day.
  • Break duration β€” how long each auto-inserted break lasts (default 15 min). Breaks count as free time but are reserved for rest.
Task spreading & same-priority scheduling

When you have multiple tasks with the same priority and due date, the scheduler automatically spreads them throughout the day so you alternate between them instead of working on one for hours.

Example: If you have 6 priority-5 tasks all due on the same day:

  • Without spreading: Task A (120 min) β†’ Break β†’ Task A (120 min) β†’ Break β†’ Task A (remaining)
  • With spreading: Task A (30 min) β†’ Break β†’ Task B (30 min) β†’ Break β†’ Task C (30 min) β†’ Break β†’ Task D (30 min) β†’ ... β†’ back to Task A

How the session cap is calculated:

  • Session cap = max(30 min, max-work-hours Γ· count-of-same-priority-same-due-tasks)
  • If 2 priority-5 tasks are due the same day: 120 min Γ· 2 = 60 min sessions
  • If 4 priority-5 tasks are due the same day: 120 min Γ· 4 = 30 min sessions
  • If only 1 task of a priority: 120 min sessions (unchanged β€” you get full focus time)

Tasks with different due dates or priorities are scheduled separately according to their deadlines β€” no spreading applies.

Appearance & style
